TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Just a few dollars on your part could mean a majorly improved lights display at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse this holiday season.
The Friends of Downtown Lafayette/West Lafayette is raising funds for a complete revamp of the courthouse’s holiday lighting scheme.
The goal is to raise a total of $30,000 to replace the old incandescent lights with energy-efficient, weather-resistant LED lighting.
The new lighting scheme would also change from the current “lampshade” style of lighting to a more tree-like display by extending the lights to the courthouse roof.
If enough funds are raised, the work should be completed in time for this year’s annual lighting of the courthouse in conjunction with Dickens of a Christmas on Dec. 1.
You can send donations to Friends of Downtown at P.O. Box 684, Lafayette, IN 47902-0684.
Donations of any amount will be accepted and get this: Those of $25 or more will be matched with funds already secured by Friends of Downtown.
For more information you can call Ken McCammon at (765) 714-4844 or Steve Bultinck at (765) 430-2325.
