Locals grow tired of political ads

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - With election day less than a week away, Lafayette residents say they have had enough of the political ads and are ready for campaigns to be over.

In a presidential election year, advertisements can be seen as early as the summer months.

Political ads can dominate television this time of year.

Some residents say they are disturbed by the information some ads are tell the public.

"They seem to have the attitude and it's more now than in the past, that you can lie through your teeth and just do it loudly enough and persistently enough that it sticks, at least with some people," said Joe Vanable.

"They should be focused on what people really need to hear and what they want to hear and I think it's just been more, I guess, mudslinging if you want to use that word, "said Michael Murphy.

"I think we have kind of lost sight of what we need and what we need to be focusing on."

The political ads will end this coming Tuesday on election day.
