LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - During this summer's drought, the dry conditions took a toll on lawns, turning them shades of browns and yellows. But it's turned around as of late -- NewsChannel has measured nine inches of rain last month.
One lawn care owner said his company lost about 40 percent of summer sales due to the drought. He said now that the grass is green again, business is back to 100 percent.
"People can't keep up with their lawn now that the rain's there. We're even getting people calling us that normally mow their own yard but they can't keep up with it now," said Ken Rhode.
Rhode is also in the snow removal business, which he said took another beating with the lack of snow this past winter. He hopes to bounce back next year from the rough times this year.
