WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Superstorm Sandy hit close to home for Lafayette resident Patti O'Callaghan.

Her family, including her mother, five sisters and four brothers were all hit by Sandy from their homes in Breezy Point, New York. Total, her family lost five houses and a dozen cars which were all destroyed by the storm. Twenty of her family members were displaced.

O'Callaghan was out in New York when the storm hit in October. She said the devastation is simply unbelievable.

"It was obviously from a little girl's room and it said, 'Catherine's Room, Dreams Start Here.' This was at the top of the pile, just everybody's stuff out on the street," O'Callaghan said.

O'Callaghan said Breezy Point is dominated by people with an Irish heritage. That's why Jerry O'Bryan, owner of Nine Irish Brothers, offered to help raise money for her family. Ten percent of sales on Tuesday will help provide relief for the O'Callaghan family.
