The Express Clydesdales visit Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A visit with Santa and a carriage ride made for royalty is what many residents were able to experience in Lafayette Saturday afternoon.

The Express Clydesdales visited the Sam's Club in Lafayette Saturday afternoon to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.

For a small donation, shoppers could have their picture taken with Santa and take a ride in the carriage that Prince William and Kate used last month.

Express Clydesdales are a rare black and white breed that can grow to be around 6 feet tall and approximately 2,000 pounds.

The Clydesdales' Trainer Rexx Mann said it takes a few years to train the horses, but said he loves showing them off in places around the country.

"The cool thing for me is bringing the horses to a town and letting folks experience it for sometimes their first time," said Mann. "That's really cool to be able to bring what we do to the public."

If you missed the event today, you can also see the horses at the Lafayette Christmas Parade on Sunday. The parade begins at 2 p.m.
