Tailgaiters tough out soggy conditions

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Breakfast Club crowd wasn't the only crowd toughing out the rainy weather Saturday afternoon.

Tailgaters packed Slater Hill and surrounding lots for the Boilermakers first home game. Purdue kicked off against Eastern Kentucky at 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

While many are tailgating professionals, for others, it was a first time experience. Tony Costa said his daughter is a member of the gold duster dance team,
and said his first tailgating experience on Saturday was more than he could have asked for.

"It's been a phenomenal atmosphere," said Costa. "So, we came down here, we didn't expect anything, we just knew that we were going to come down here for a football game. So far, we've run into some awesome people, really friendly."

Saturday's game was not sold out. In fact, only about 6,500 student tickets were sold for the game.
