WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - In an age in which sports fans, players and coaches want instant access to player statistics, one local company is providing that.
DelMar Software Development, a programming company in Purdue Research Park, has recently partnered with a professional basketball league to utilize its program "Swoosh!"
"Swoosh!" tracks the stats of high school, college and professional athletes, including points, fouls and even rebound opportunities.
"Swoosh!" developer Mikel Berger says he came up with the idea in college and during the past 10 years, more than 300 teams around the world have used it.
“I grew up playing basketball, but wasn't very good, so I spent a lot of time keeping stats,” Berger said. “Microsoft had this programming contest and you could win a Compaq Ipaq. So, I was like, 'I need an idea to win one of those.' So, I created a little basketball stats program.”
Berger says locally, Lafayette Jeff and McCutcheon girls and Rossville boys basketball teams use the program.
