TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The city of Lafayette and Purdue University, along with several other organizations, team up for a special summit, with homeless veterans as the focus.

It took place Thursday morning at the Indiana Veterans' Home in West Lafayette.

Speakers and city leaders hope by working together they can confront homelessness among men and women who served our country.

Topics discussed include housing, employment, and support programs for vets.

"With the community coming together like this means that you got a lot of caring people that are going to sit down and work out a solution to this problem," said Jim Logsdon, Mary T. Klinker Veterans Center.

This is the first year for the event.
