CHALMERS, Ind. (WLFI) - Students at Frontier Junior-Senior High School are using a class project to give back to a former student.
Miss McKinney's freshman "Family and Consumer Science Class" was assigned a semester long entrepreneurship project.
The goal was to start a fake business and somehow give back to the community.
The students decided to go above and beyond and help a former Falcon who has leukemia.
They've designed a logo in honor of Wes Corbin and will be selling T-shirts and giving all the proceeds to the student's family.
Students involved in the project said this is something that warms their hearts.
"It makes you feel good," Frontier freshman Dane Chapman said. "There are a lot of people who spend time after school and during school. We have project work days during school and people go home and we even have an email. People email me all the time. There are some people who email me even at 10 o'clock at night so everyone is trying hard and doing their best."
"These kids are so motivated to do this," Frontier High School freshman teacher Amber McKinney said. "It's really awesome. I love seeing youth doing something they're excited about and doing something to give back to others. You hear a lot about youth being in trouble and I really love seeing this excitement in their eyes."
If you want more information about how you can help the students, you can email McKinney.
