College Goal Day makes it easier for students to fill out their FAFSA's

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Financial aid administrators from Purdue and Ivy Tech are hoping their help will make applying for financial aid easier on hundreds of students.

They were taking part in the annual College Goal Sunday, with an event at Ivy Tech community college on Sunday.

The event mirrored others taking place across Indiana and the rest of the country. Students were invited to attend and receive help from administrators filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.

Administrators said about 200-300 students were expected to attend.

"It's just, sort of, to help people, and get them over the fear of the form, because they hear a lot of, 'Oh, it's just so hard to do.' And so we're here to walk them through, hold hands if needed, but just generally to answer their questions," said Malone.

Purdue's Ted Malone said College Goal Sunday actually began here in Indiana and has become an annual tradition in many states across the country.
