Student volunteers clean up the Greater Lafayette area

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - More than 800 Purdue students ventured out to Greater Lafayette Saturday in an effort to clean up the community.

One day a year, come volunteer! Boiler Blast is Purdue's largest community service event. Students and organizations volunteer for the annual event.
    
Vice President of the Planning Committee Alexia Milby said the event is only possible thanks to local sponsors. She said the event provides students with the opportunity to give back to the community that they call home for four years.

"They're going out to Lafayette and West Lafayette community members. They're going to go rake leaves, paint walls, kind of do their spring cleaning for them," said Milby.

She said the planning committee is always searching for people in need of free help.
