Storm causes tree to split in two, damaging house

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The storm Thursday night caused a tree to split in two and damage part of a house on the south side of Lafayette.

The clean up began Friday for the Parker family on County Road 450 South.

Homeowner Seth Parker was out of town Friday night when the tree came down.

He said his wife immediately called him and made him aware of what was happening.

Although part of his house was taken out by the tree, Parker said, all things considered, things could be worse.

“We're pretty fortunate. What we're going through now is nothing compared to what the farmers through. I would rather have a storm take out part of my house than have to go through what they're going through,” said Parker.

Parker said his daughter was in bed just 6 feet from where the tree landed when it split.
