State sees small increase in ISTEP scores

Indiana (WLFI) - According to the scores released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Education, Indiana saw a small increase in ISTEP scores across the board for the 2011-2012 school year.

Statewide score increases were 1 or 2%, depending on the subject. Average state scores improved 1% for English/language arts, and 2% for math, science and social studies.

Overall, 79% of students statewide passed the English test. 81% passed the math test. 71% passed science and 69% passed social studies.

The statewide standardized test is administered in the spring to students in third to eighth grades.
