'Starry Night' supports learning minds in West Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Dozens of local artists gathered in Chauncey Village Friday evening to use their hands to support learning minds.

The 10th annual "Starry Night Music and Arts Festival" kicked off at 7 Friday night at the corner of Northwestern Avenue and State Street in West Lafayette.

Starry Night is intended to gather the community together around arts and music. Artwork on display included everything from handmade jewelry and clothing, to fine art and photography.

Laura Aberle makes her own jewelry, and has been attending the festival for five years. She said every year, it's nice to see familiar faces at her booth.

"I just like seeing the same people come back every year and then there's always something new," said Aberle. "Also, the cost is great and it's a great way to get awareness out about literacy and really change the world. So, it's just a great venue for people."

There were also six live bands performing on two separate stages throughout the evening. The event was free to the public.
