WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - You might not expect to hear "fore" across a golf course in the middle of January, but when it feels like spring that's a different story.
"I was here earlier and we did some putting and now it's really nice, so I decided I would just try to get back into my game," golfer Ally Ross said.
Ross hit the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Saturday afternoon along with a lot of other people. Assistant Golf Professional Conner Klinkenbeard said the golf course made a last minute decision to open, and he's glad they did.
"We've had about 55 players on the golf course," Klinkenbeard said. "We've had probably 30 or 40 out on the range taking advantage of the nice weather, so it's been hectic but fun. It's nice to get a little break from the cold weather in the wintertime."
Edwood Glen Country Club manager in West Lafayette told News 18 Saturday they've had about 150 golfers since Friday.
Golfers weren't the only ones enjoying the weather. Happy Hollow Park was filled with families, even some four-legged family members who were enjoying the spring-like day.
"I try to get out and get a little bit of quality time with her," Chris Wilson said about spending time with his daughter. "We got a new puppy and it was a nice day so we're going to take him for a walk."
"We just started. We're going to hit some of the either parks and probably get some ice cream and take in a movie later," Mary Winger said about the nice weather.
