Some TSC students could be switching schools

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Due to increasing enrollment this year, some Klondike and Woodland Elementary students may have to make a move next year.

At Wednesday night's school board meeting, Superintendent Scott Hanback revealed plans to move Klondike Elementary students to Burnett Creek Elementary.

Students living anywhere from the Cumberland Avenue extension to U.S. 231, past U.S. 52 then up County Road 250 North, will be affected. Woodland students living near Brady Lane and Concord Road area will attend Dayton Elementary.
    
Hanback said no student will be forced to move but there is one condition.

"We are going to allow a situation where students can remain at their existing school but unfortunately, the district just does not have the luxury of providing transportation," Hanback said.

Hanback asked the board to commission a feasibility study to expand Burnett Creek and Woodland Elementary.

During the next meeting in November, board members will vote on the boundary changes. The boundary changes will go into effect for the 2013-2014 school year.

Hanback said the corporation will also start mapping out land to eventually build a new school.
