LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - New districts were unveiled to Lafayette city leaders Wednesday evening.
The redrawn lines were displayed as part of the Common Council caucus. The drawing is based on the assumption that the proposed annexed area on Lafayette's east side is approved.
Each district has about 11,465 people living inside the boundaries.
The biggest changes are on the south side of town, though each of the six districts has adjusted boundaries.
With the new map, for the first time, all city residents in the same township will have the same councilman or councilwoman representing them.
With the map currently in place, some townships were split.
The council will consider the map on first reading at their meeting Monday night.
They will also consider a bond for the Metro Fibernet project.
