LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Snow began to fall Friday morning, ahead of rush hour, leaving a dusting on the roadways.
Shortly after 7 a.m., local law enforcement confirmed to News 18 they were responding to several slide-offs and minor crashes. The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office said they have received several reports of minor accidents. The Lafayette Police Department only had one report as of 7:30 a.m.
Indiana State Police in Lafayette said there were no reports of traffic accidents as of 7:30 a.m.
The Indiana Department of Transportation Lowell District was advising drivers to be aware of snow plows Friday morning, asking folks to leave room so the plows could do their job effectively. Also, INDOT wanted drivers to be aware of the fact road salt may not be as effective, due to temperatures remaining below freezing much of the week.
INDOT offers a look at real-time traffic information and live camera feeds of Indiana's interstate system via its TrafficWise website. Traffic information can also be obtained by calling 1(800) 261-ROAD.
