TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A man had to be extricated from his SUV late Saturday night, after deputies said he ran a stop sign and was hit by a semi truck.
According to Tippecanoe County Deputy Steven Stonerock, the semi truck was traveling southbound on US 52 near County Road 800 South. Stonerock said they believe the driver of the SUV failed to stop completely at the intersection of US 52 and 800 South, and was therefore hit by the semi truck.
Deputy Stonerock said the accident occurred around 11:45 Saturday night, and said the driver of the SUV had to be extricated from his vehicle.
Stonerock said the driver of the SUV was transported to IU Health Arnett, and the semi truck driver was taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital, both in unknown condition.
The crash remains under investigation, and the names of both people involved are not yet being released.
