WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A semi truck and car crashed Tuesday afternoon on North River Road, shutting down north- and southbound traffic for more than an hour.
West Lafayette police dispatchers say the wreck happened around 1:45 p.m. near 1940 North River Road in West Lafayette.
Crews on the scene say a car was heading southbound on North River Road and the driver went to pass a car in a no pass zone.
Investigators say the car struck a semi that was northbound.
The female driver of the car was sent to the hospital with what is believe to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The road is still closed at this time, but our NewsChannel 18 crew on the scene said at 2:30 a tow truck had just arrived.
Crews say there may be a power outage to a nearby house after the semi hit a power line pole.
