School security, dress codes part of LSC Town Halls

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette school officials are hoping to get an education from area parents.

Lafayette School Corportation (LSC) Superintendent Les Huddle and school board members held a town hall meeting to hear from parents, students and community members of Sunnyside Middle School Monday night. They are holding similar meetings at each of the corporation's 11 schools.

More than three dozen people showed to provide feedback. Much of the discussion focused on bus routes and crossing guards, but there were also questions on topics like school safety and the possibility of a stricter dress code.

Huddle said feedback will be used to help revise strategic plans for LSC.

"We think our parents want the best for their child," Huddle said. "Through meetings like this we think we can move forward to trying to improve and provide the best for them."

Officials have eight more meetings ahead of them before the end of the month.
