Root of fire goes unsolved by investigators

CLARKS HILL, Ind. (WLFI) - State investigators say they are unable to determine the cause of a massive, destructive fire this weekend.

The fire Saturday night at the Industrial Pallet Corporation in Tippecanoe County torched thousands of pallets and destroyed the Recycling Operation Center.

It took more than 12 hours and 22 fire departments to finally put the fire out Sunday morning.

A representative for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security says there was so much damage, state fire marshals are unable to rule out any sources of the fire or possible causes.

Fire investigators could determine only that the fire started on the east side of the building, but could not narrow down a more exact location.

The state’s investigation is now closed.
