WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Retired Four-Star General Ronald Keys was in West Lafayette Thursday.

General Keys talked to Purdue students about America's over-reliance on fossil fuels. He said America's use of fossil fuels is a threat to national security, and that this idea comes from projects he conducted at the Center for Naval Analyses.

"We're in a situation where events that we can't control can spike the price of gas which certainly has a great impact on our transportation industry and of course our economy as a whole," said Keys.

General Keys says to fix this problem, he suggest Americans start using alternative fuels like methanol, ethanol, and electricity.
