ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - Less than four months after the new Attica police chief joined the force, he is leaving his post for a different job.

Chief Bob Brewer is leaving to take a position at the Indiana State Chemist Office based at Purdue University.

He tells News 18 that he'll be doing pesticide and fertilizer inspections and investigations and that it's an opportunity he couldn't pass up, with better salary and benefits.

Mayor Bob Shepherd says he hates to see him go, saying the police department is in better shape and has better morale since Brewer took over in November.

Assistant Chief Gene Snoeberger will act as interim chief.

Brewer's last day will be March 5.
