Purdue Water Ski Team alumni tournament

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue water skiers of all ages spent the weekend on Lake Purdue for the team's annual alumni tournament. Both alumni and current members of the Purdue Water Ski Team competed in the tournament.

Organizers said this tournament is the team's biggest fundraiser. The money raised is used for team expenses like boat upkeep and gas.

Current members and alumni said the tournament has been going on for nearly 10 years.

They say it's a good time to not only see old friends, but make new ones.

[The alumni] are all really nice," Matthew Cole, a current team member, said. "We were all part of the Purdue Water Ski Team at some point. We all have that in common."

"It's been great for us," Cris Kodiak, team alum, said. "We're always looking for more reasons to get together so the alumni tournament is the prefect excuse for that."

Members say you don't have to know how to water ski to join the team. The team and its boat will be on Purdue's campus this week.
