WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Purdue fraternity was suspended for violating University alcohol and hazing regulations.

Beta Theta Pi's suspension will be in effect through May 4, 2013.

Then, it will be placed on probation until December 2014.

An investigation determined the fraternity hazed students and made alcohol available to minors at social and new member education events this semester.

In addition to Purdue's sanctions, Beta Theta Pi's General Fraternity has ordered the chapter to close for the rest of the academic year.

All members will move out of the house by the end of the current semester and will have "alumni status" with the organization.
