Puckering up for good cause

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Local fire and police chiefs puckered up for a good cause Thursday night.

It was a packed house for the annual Kiss-a-Pig contest at the fairgrounds coliseum.  This year's participants were chiefs from the Purdue, West Lafayette, and Lafayette police and fire departments. 

Lafayette Police Chief Don Roush raised the most money for the 4-H scholarship fund.              

One 10-year 4-H veteran said the contest really helps 4-H members like himself.

"All these proceeds go to 4-H scholarships. They go back to the extension office which is associated with different 4-H scholarships, whatever seems to be benefiting the most. It's very helpful,” said Ryan Rumble.         

Other participants didn't get out of locking lips either.  They had to kiss animals like a goat, a dairy calf, and even a large horse.
