PU student collects toys for sick kids

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Purdue student is spreading holiday cheer to sick children this year.

Sophomore Kali Harrison had the idea to collect toys to bring to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Harrison said it started with several emails to different organizations and people on campus.

She said so far she's collected several hundred toys and about $500 to buy toys.

Harrison said she decided to do this in memory of her cousin she lost to cancer this summer.

"I know how he felt during Christmas and I know the other kids feel the same way," Harrison said. "So why not make their day better? And to me it's just an amazing feeling, because it's all for the kids."
