LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Polls opened on Tuesday, May 8 for Indiana's Primary Election at 6:00 a.m .

In Tippecanoe County, voters can cast their ballots at vote centers. More information on vote centers is posted on the Tippecanoe County Election and Voter Registration webpage . You can also find a list of offices up for election in 2012.

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson made a stop at a vote center in West Lafayette. Secretary Lawson is making her a way to sites across the state Tuesday.

"We wanted to observe vote center counties in order to help them help us develop some best practices so that other counties would be able to study those and determine whether or not they would like to be a vote center county," commented Lawson.

Before you head out to the polls, don't forget to bring your government-issued photo identification which is required in order to cast your ballot.
