KOKOMO, Ind. (WLFI) - Kokomo police arrested 36-year-old Turama Stitts, of Kokomo, Thursday evening.

Stitts faces one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Officers were called to the first scene at 11:33 Thursday morning near the intersection of Taylor Street and Apperson Way, where they found 48-year-old Argena Williams with a gunshot wound to the head. He later died at a local hospital.

Ten minutes later, officers were called to the 400 block of North Purdum Street where they discovered 40-year-old Miriam Mallory also with a gunshot wound to the head.  She was rushed to a local hospital.

At 1:10 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the 600 block of East Taylor Street where they found 51-year-old Ricky Patterson with a gunshot wound to the head.  Medics took him to an area hospital.

Witnesses told officers they saw a black man wearing a beige Carhartt style jacket running from the scene. Police set up a perimeter and began looking for the man.

Thursday's shootings come on the heels of a shooting Wednesday night that left 64-year-old David Gibson suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Kokomo Police Lt. Don Whitehead, who is set to retire in a week, said he's never seen a string of crime like this in his decades with the Kokomo Police Department.

"Four shootings in less than 24 hours," Lt. Whitehead said.  "It's something that we haven't seen. Certainly the times where some of these have occurred within minutes of each other.

Kokomo detectives believe Stitts acted alone.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Captain Teresa Galloway at 765-456-7326 or the Kokomo Police Hotline at 765-456-7017.
