WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Purdue women's tennis player suffered minor scrapes and bruises after being hit by a car on campus this afternoon.

West Lafayette Police Officer Kevin Coomey said 20-year-old Kirsten "Kay Kay" Magi was crossing Pierce Street at the intersection of State Street when she was hit by a car driven by 20-year-old Mader Hattar.

Officer Coomey said Magi was in the crosswalk when Hattar turned off State Street looking for a parking spot on Pierce. Coomey said Magi refused treatment at the scene, and was going to be checked by an athletic trainer later.
Hattar was not ticketed for the accident.

Officer Coomey said West Lafayette Police have responded to car vs. pedestrian incidents every week since Purdue has been back in session. He advises drivers and walkers to be more aware of each other.

According to Purdue's Athletic Department website, Magi is a junior tennis player from Hamilton Ontario, Canada.
