Partnership breaks ground on new health clinic

DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) - Ground was broken Thursday morning on the site of a new health clinic for Indiana Packer's employees and their families.

The new facility will be located on U.S. 421 in Delphi and will be free and open to employees six days a week.

The opening is anticipated for December.

The clinic is a partnership between Packers, Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health and Unity Healthcare.
Indiana Packers Corp. President Gary Jacobson says it will provide an improved wellness situation for employees.

“It’s a convenience for them,” Jacobson said. “It allows them to come in here and not put off health care issues. They can stay ahead of the game.”

By partnering, Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health will be able to provide prescriptions and will also use its electronic medical records system, while Unity Healthcare will provide nurse practitioners.

“It’s one of the first times the three groups have really come together,” said Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health CEO Terry Wilson. “I don’t want to call it experimental, but we’re all excited about doing new and different things and showing other folks that this can work.”
