FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) - The fines are going up for illegal parking in downtown Frankfort.
The City Council amended the downtown parking ordinance earlier this week. Council member Josh Uitts said free parking will now be limited to two hours instead of three.
While violators used to be fined $20 a ticket, frequent violators will be penalized more stiffly, from $40 for the second offense and $250 for the third.
Uitts said the city is trying to set up passes for businesses who have customers who need to be parked for longer than two hours.
