LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Children, adults, and community leaders kicked off the Fourth of July holiday weekend Saturday morning at the 22nd Annual Ninth Street Hill Box parade.
Children were invited to decorate boxes, which some chose to wear and others pushed down the hill to the Lafayette Art Museum. Once the parade was over, the crowd sang the National Anthem, led by Democratic State Representative Sheila Klinker and Lafayette Police Chief Don Roush.
Afterward, kids were treated to face painting and treats.
"There is a lot of fun stuff to do here," said parade attendee Holly Root. "Free ice cream is a big draw for my kids, and there are a lot of fun things to do at the art museum."
The parade was co-sponsored by the Historic Ninth Street Hill Neighborhood Association, the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, and the Tippecanoe County Historical Association.
