LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Many people took the opportunity Saturday afternoon to find a safe disposal solution for old unwanted electronic devices.

Lafayette's Oscar Winski E-recycling teamed up with West Lafayette and Tippecanoe Solid Waste Management District for a recycling event on Saturday. The event took place at the West Lafayette recycling station on South River Road.

Many lined up to drop off old electronic devices that could be potentially hazardous if in a land fill.

General manager of Oscar Winski E-recycling Thom Davis said he wants to keep household hazardous waste out of the ground, and expects too see a variety of electronic devices being dropped off.

"We will see pretty much everything," said Davis. "We will see, I expect we'll see, a Barbie Jeep, we'll probably see a blender, we'll probably see a hair dryer, then lots of computers and lots of old TVs."

The event lasted from 10:00 Saturday morning until 2:00 Saturday afternoon and accepted almost any household device that plugs into the wall or runs on batteries.

Oscar Winski also provides free data destruction on computers, cell phones, and other devices that may be causing people to hold on to them instead of recycling.
