Old-New SR 25 junction gets more signage

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - New road signs are in place after concerns from law enforcement and one local mayor.

Earlier this month, we reported on the intersection connecting Old State Road 25 and New State Road 25 and the frequent crashes there.

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) spokeswoman Debbie Calder says after concerns from both Tippecanoe County sheriff's deputies and Delphi Mayor Randy Strasser, Tippecanoe County and INDOT officials decided to add extra road signs.

Calder says they added several signs including an extra stop sign and a larger double-headed-arrow sign.

“We had the signs already in place, but I don't know if people weren't seeing them or not used to stopping because what was State Road 25 – now Old State Road 25 – they didn't have to stop,” Calder said. “So, it is a new condition.”

Calder says the signs have been up for about two weeks.
