WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A West Lafayette Police officer wasn't in a uniform and badge Monday night. Instead, he was dressed in a kilt.
Sgt. Kevin Flynn greeted customers at Nine Irish Brothers in West Lafayette while wearing his kilt to raise awareness for prostate cancer.
It's all a part of the "Kilted to Kick Cancer" foundation that Sgt. Flynn is a part of.
He said prostate cancer awareness was last month, but said it's important to raise awareness every day.
"It's fantastic to raise awareness," Sgt. Flynn said. "They came up with this to raise awareness and to wear a kilt because you don't wear a kilt every day. So every time somebody asks me, 'Hey, why are you wearing a kilt?' I can quickly explain that it's prostate cancer awareness and to make sure you get checked and know what the risk factors are."
Owner of Nine Irish Brothers, Jerry O'Bryan, says they'll donate 10 percent of Monday's proceeds to the Kilted to Kick Cancer foundation.
