LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) announced Thursday it has a new director for Tippecanoe County’s local office.

Angela Guimond will take on a staff of 42, including family case managers, foster parent support case managers, attorneys and clerical staff.

Her new role will also include general office operations and setting goals and objectives for DCS.

“We’re thrilled Angela will be managing day-to-day operations in Tippecanoe County,” DCS Deputy Director of Field Operations Dave Judkins said. “With her strong educational background and hands-on experience working with kids in Tippecanoe County, Angela is well equipped to be a true leader and serve her county well.”

Guimond replaces former director Angela Smith Grossman. Grossman was recently promoted to Regional Manager of Indiana DCS. Her region, region 5, covers Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Tippecanoe, Warren and White counties.

Guimond is a originally from Champaign, Ill., and earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and her master’s in social work.

She has served children in many ways during her career, starting as a case counselor in a therapeutic residential home in Illinois for sexually abused children.

Guimond also became a child protection services case manager for DCS in New York, and later was a family case manager for DCS right here in Tippecanoe County.

In 2005, Guimond was promoted to supervisor and has been in that position ever since.

The Tippecanoe County office of the Indiana Department of Child Services is at 250 Main St., Suite 301, in Lafayette. You can contact the office via phone at 765-742-0400, and to report child abuse or neglect, call the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 800-800-5556.
