New Baby Day Camp teaches responsibility

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A group of youngsters are now officially certified big brothers and sisters.

The kids received the honor Saturday at the New Baby Day Camp hosted by Franciscan Saint Elizabeth Health.

Camp leaders said the program helps young kids know what to expect when their parents bring home a new little brother or sister.

The kids practice changing diapers, feeding the babies, and putting the babies down for a nap.

Camp leaders said it's important young children understand the change that happens when they become an older sibling.

"I think kids are really excited about having that new title, but they're not really sure what comes with it," said baby educator Kelly Daneri. "This class is really meant to help them understand some of those simple things they can do to help out around the house with their new baby brother or sister."

The next New Baby Day Camp is April 20.
