Negele will represent eight counties as state representative

ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - Republican Sharon Negele isn't wasting any time stepping up as the State Representative for District 13.

Negele is the unofficial winner of Tuesday's election. She beat Democrat Mark Straw with 58 percent of the votes.

District 13 includes parts of eight counties. Those counties are Benton, Fountain, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren and White.

Negele spent Wednesday at the Statehouse prepping for her new position. She said she wasn't worried when some of the early numbers put Straw ahead in the race because of poll results from three weeks ago.

"I'm human just like everybody and of course, it's hard to see that and your stomach does a flip flop but logic dictates that it wasn't going to land that way at the end," Negele said.

Negele said she's anxiously awaiting to see which committees she'll be put on at the Statehouse. She wants to see more jobs for the people of her district and improved vocational training to create more skilled workers.
