Monument City now closed to public

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said Sunday Monument City is now closed to the public.
The DNR said they were worried with the high traffic that the artifacts would be damaged.
Remnants of buildings, old trees and even roadways that were once part of Monument City can be seen because of the drought. They are usually covered by the Salamonie Lake.
At this time, officials with the DNR aren't sure when it will be reopened.
