MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - The Monticello-Union Township Public Library is set to receive a $10,000 grant.
The library was chosen by the American Library Association and Dollar General to receive the grant based on its proposal for an English learners program.
Adult Services Librarian Portia Kapraun says the plan is to expand the library's current programs and make them sustainable by the end of the year.
"I think what we're focusing on is just trying to become more of a community center for all of the community, English speakers and non-English speakers," said Kapraun.
Additionally, there are plans to redesign the library's website so that it is available in English, Spanish and Mandarin, which Kapraun says are the three most common languages spoken in White County.
