WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Miss America Pageant isn't until January, but Miss Indiana is already preparing for what will most likely be the biggest pageant of her life.
Current Purdue Golden Girl and Miss Indiana 2013 MarrieBeth Cox thanked her friends and supporters Saturday night on Purdue's campus before she hit the road to take part in the competition.
Cox gave all in attendance a sneak-peek at her Miss America wardrobe and also performed her baton-twirling routine. Cox is a senior physical education major at Purdue, and the only 5-year Golden Girl in Purdue's history.
She won the title of Miss Indiana 2012 on June 23 in Zionsville, after she beat out 31 other young women from all over the state of Indiana.
"I know it's going to be a once in a lifetime experience," said Cox. "I know it's going to be crazy, fun, long, all of the above, and I'm just looking forward to it so much, it's something I've always wanted to do."
Cox previously held the title of Miss Purdue 2011. The Miss America Pageant will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, Jan. 12.
