Million-dollar project moving forward

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A million-dollar street project in Lafayette is moving forward.

The Board of Works approved a bid from Milestone Contractors to redo North Street in the city's downtown.

The historical brick street is known for its uneven surface and bumpy ride.

"It's not a heavily traveled street, but if you've traveled it, you know it's in terrible shape. Your teeth rattle when you drive down the road. It really needs replacement,” said Jenny Miller, Lafayette city engineer.

Part of the million-dollar reconstruction will paid for by TIF district dollars.

Phase one from Eerie to 9th Street will start as early as next week.
