WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Burkina Faso native, Eric Beba, is walking from Savannah, GA, where he attends university, to Chicago, IL, where he hopes to convince Oprah to help his charity.

Beba said that he wants to have Oprah's support so that people will take his fundraising efforts seriously.

"Because I want to contribute to changing things in my country, and in doing that I want to get the attention of Oprah Winfrey to help sponsor some of the plans we have there," said Beba.

Some of the plans that Beba has are to build school structures and teach agricultural practices in his West African homeland. He said that even if Oprah can not help him he still hopes that other people will be inspired by his determination.

"With my country, Burkina Faso, having more than 70% uneducated people nothing is going to work there. That's why me and my mom, we're trying to open a school for the needy children this year. We're going to start with the first grade, and next year if we get more money we're going to start bringing the second grade and so on," said Beba.

Beba said he hopes to make it to Oprah by August 6.
