LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Police said a man got away with an undisclosed amount of money after he robbed a Village Pantry early Sunday morning.
The Village Pantry is located on Schuyler Avenue and 17th Street in Lafayette. Lafayette Police officer Jeff Webb said the suspect is described as a thin, black male, around 5 feet 8 inches tall.
He said the suspect was last seen wearing a black and grey striped shirt. Webb said he did not display a weapon.
He said while there have been several robberies in Lafayette over the last several months, he doesn't think residents need to worry.
"Anytime you have areas that are accessible to the interstate, you're going to have an increase of personal property crimes and personal victim crimes," said Webb. "I have no reason to believe there's an uptick in robberies in the area that residents need to be worried or concerned about."
Webb said there was one clerk inside at the time of the robbery, but no injuries occurred. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department or the anonymous we tip hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.
