LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette School Corporation came to a contract agreement with its teachers for the 2013-2014 school year.
Monday night the board met and voted to approve contracts between the Teachers Association and Local 2601, which involves custodial and maintenance workers throughout the school corporation.
Superintendent Les Huddle said the contract they've agreed on is a one-year agreement with the Teacher's Association and a three-year agreement with local 2601.
However, he said they only agreed so far on one year of the salary, and the benefits part of the Local 2601 contract.
The board also approved a 2-percent stipend for all LSC employees.
"Half of that, or 1 percent, will be paid on the employee's last check in December. And the second one percent will be paid on the first check in June of 2013. It is a stipend and not a salary increase," LSC Superintendent Les Huddle said.
Huddle said they've been negotiating for approximately 60 days and will start negotiating next August for the 2014 school year.
