LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette police officer being sued for harassing another man admitted to leaving that man a voicemail.

Officer Charles Williams didn't specify in court documents what that voicemail said.

According to Timothy Vander Plaats, Williams threatened to kill him in a voicemail. Vander Plaats said after running into a female friend at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lafayette the phone calls started.

The woman was with three off-duty officers at the time and was dating one of them. Vander Plaats claims the woman told him her boyfriend wouldn't be happy with them talking. That's when he said the phone calls started.

After an internal investigation conducted by the Lafayette Police Department, Williams was suspended five days without pay.
