WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Motorcycle engines roared in West Lafayette for the kids.

Despite early morning showers and cloudy skies, The Community and Family Resource Center pressed on with the "Cruise for Kids" Charity Motorcycle Ride and Concert.

Organizers said bikes and bands were just enough to bring awareness to helping kids through the organization.

As bikers revved their engines for the boys and girls of Tippecanoe County, passenger Chris Clugh-Thomas said she will cherish every moment of the ride.

"Just the enjoyment of the country side and the turns and seeing all the different bikes. I like to see everybody out there and it's just fun," said Clugh-Thomas.

CFRC Board of Director Kris DeHahn said the ride is just one of the ways the organization helps children in the area.

"To raise money for the Community Family Resource Center that does so many things for the community. We have a youth underground program, a babies can't wait program. It gets the kids off the street and gives them a safe haven to go to," said DeHahn.

"This ride is so important to the community. CFRC does so many things. The Christmas Day Dinner, with over 3,000 being fed, this is kind of our Christmas in July and the prevention of child abuse programs that they do is just a tremendous help to our community," said Clugh-Thomas.

Riders drove through Crawfordsville, Turkey Run and Hillsboro.

DeHahn said so far the CFRC has raised $1200.  She said donations were made at every stop.

The CFRC will be partnering with Meals on Wheels for the 22nd Annual Christmas Day Dinner.

DeHahn said the CFRC is still in need of donations for the event, including turkey, corn, green beans and lots of toys.

Donations can be made at the CFRC or by calling DeHahn at 765-714-1399.
