WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Former West Lafayette City Councilman Paul Roales (D) is now a candidate for the District 26 State Representative race.

Roales has served as a Democrat on the City Council since 2007.

He currently works for Pearl Street Venture Funds in Indianapolis.

Roales moved to West Lafayette about 10 years ago and attended Purdue University.

He says he has a passion for education, and wants state support for education at all levels.

"It's very critical that we have community partnership and community support we have here locally matched with state funds and state support. It has to be a partnership that we've seen here locally extended to Indianapolis," said Roales.

Republican Randy Truitt currently represents District 26 at the Statehouse.
